Job description

Clarke Group is seeking an accomplished finance leader to take ownership of its finance function across a complex, multi-entity portfolio. Reporting to the Managing Director, you'll combine strategic advice with hands-on financial leadership, bringing clear reporting, disciplined cashflow management and commercial insight to a fast-moving business. Your work will directly inform investment decisions, project funding and the Group's long-term direction. This role could suit an experienced CFO or a proven Financial Controller ready to step into a broader executive position.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director on financial strategy, capital allocation, funding structures, acquisitions and commercial risk.
• Lead Group accounting, consolidated reporting, budgeting, forecasting and tax compliance.
• Manage cashflow, liquidity, debt and working capital across multiple entities and projects.
• Oversee development feasibilities, project budgets, funding models and financial performance.
• Deliver timely lender, investor and governance reporting, including oversight of funding covenants and obligations.
• Lead and develop the finance team, with clear responsibilities and high standards of delivery.
• Improve finance systems, workflows, approvals and internal controls.
• Integrate Planet Concrete into the Group finance function within approximately six months, including job costing, margin reporting and operational financial controls.

About you

• Proven experience as a CFO, Financial Controller or senior finance leader in a complex, multi-entity environment.
• Strong technical accounting skills and confident financial modelling, cashflow management and commercial analysis.
• Experience managing intercompany balances, related-party transactions and complex entity structures.
• Track record of improving financial reporting, systems and controls.
• Strong people leadership and the ability to build an accountable, capable finance team.
• Confidence communicating with lenders, investors, advisers and non-financial stakeholders.
• Sound judgement, integrity and the ability to stay calm under pressure.
• Willingness to work through operational detail while contributing at an executive level.
• Experience in property development, construction, investment, banking or project finance would be highly regarded.
• Relevant tertiary qualification and CA, CPA or equivalent designation would be highly regarded.
• Direct access to the Managing Director and meaningful input into business decisions.
• Scope to shape the finance function and strengthen performance across a varied portfolio.
