Job summary

The Red Boats is seeking a highly organised Catering & Provisioning Assistant to support our Auckland harbour cruises, private charters and events. This casual role covers a range of catering tasks from cheese boxes to grazing tables, with duties including stock control, dietary requirements and cost management.

You should be reliable, punctual and able to plan ahead, working independently within a small hands-on team.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering, hospitality or food preparation is advantageous.
• Ability to work independently and plan ahead.
• Strong cleanliness and hygiene standards.

• Maintaining clean and organised preparation and storage areas
• Keeping purchase records and receipts
• Helping control food costs and minimise waste
• Setting up catering onboard vessels when required

The Red Boats is looking for an organised, reliable and hands-on Catering & Provisioning Assistant to join our team for the busy summer season.

This is a varied role preparing and coordinating catering for our Auckland Harbour cruises, private charters, functions and special events. You’ll help make sure everything from individual cheese boxes to grazing tables and platters is beautifully prepared and ready at the right time.

Applicants must be available throughout the busy Christmas and New Year holiday period, including public holidays as required.

About the role

Your responsibilities will include:

Preparing individual cheese and grazing boxes

Preparing grazing tables, platters and other catering

Preparing catering according to confirmed passenger numbers

Purchasing and collecting food, ingredients and supplies

Monitoring and maintaining catering stock

Checking use-by dates and rotating stock

Packing and preparing catering for our vessels

Preparing approved dietary requirements

Maintaining clean and organised preparation and storage areas

Keeping purchase records and receipts

Helping control food costs and minimise waste

Setting up catering onboard vessels when required

Supporting catering for private charters, functions and special events

About you

Previous catering, hospitality, food preparation or similar experience would be an advantage.

Availability

This is a casual position, with hours based around our charter and catering schedule.

You must be available throughout the Christmas and New Year holiday period. Availability across weekends and public holidays during our busy summer season is also important.

Hours will vary depending on passenger numbers, private charters, events and sailing schedules, so flexibility is essential.
