Job summary

Ka Puta Ka Ora Emerge Aotearoa is seeking two Casual Support Workers to join our Residential Mental Health services in Whangārei (Earnshaw, Corks and Kotuku). Our services operate 24/7, requiring rostered shifts across 7.30am–4.00pm, 8.30am–5.00pm, 3.30pm–12.00am and 11.30pm–8.00am wakeover shifts.

You will support tāngata whaiora to build meaningful lives within their communities while promoting recovery and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Strong written and verbal communication; basic computer literacy.
• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent) or commitment to obtaining.
• Experience engaging with Māori and Pasifika communities.
• Ability to support people with mental health challenges and complex needs.
• First Aid certification including CPR (or willingness to complete).

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day support in line with individual support, safety, and wellbeing plans.
• Encourage participation in daily activities, community connections, and personal goals.
• Monitor wellbeing and appropriately report and document incidents, concerns, or changes.
• Maintain clear and accurate client records using organisational systems.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, clinical teams, whānau, and community providers.
• Contribute to safe, culturally responsive, and quality-focused service delivery

We have 2 Casual Support Worker opportunities available across our Residential Mental Health services in Whangārei, including Earnshaw, Corks, and Kotuku. Our services operate 24/7, so flexibility to work rostered shifts across 7.30am - 4.00pm, 8.30am - 5.00pm, 3.30pm - 12.00am, and 11.30pm - 8.00am (wakeover shift) is essential. In this role, you will support tāngata whaiora (people seeking wellness) to build meaningful lives within their communities while promoting recovery and wellbeing.

You will:

You will bring:

• NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing Level 4 (or equivalent), or a commitment to obtaining the relevant minimum qualification within the required timeframe.
• Experience working with Māori and Pasifika communities.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with basic computer literacy.
• The ability to engage effectively with people experiencing mental health challenges and complex needs.
• Must hold and maintain First Aid certification including CPR, or be willing and able to complete this.
