Job summary

Pathways in Blenheim seeks compassionate Casual Support Workers to join our mental health team. You’ll support clients on their journey, build life skills, independence and re-connect with the community, with varied shifts from mornings to nights.

We value recovery-focused, trauma-informed practice and Te Tiriti o Waitangi; training and support provided to help you succeed in this role.

Qualifications

  • Level 4 NZ Certificate in Health & Wellbeing or equivalent.
  • Current full NZ driver’s licence.
  • First Aid Certificate (6400, 6401 and 6402), or willingness to obtain within first three months.
  • Confidence working within a Māori context, including Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori.

Responsibilities

  • Support people on their mental health journey by building life skills, fostering independence, and creating meaningful connections in the community.
  • Provide flexible support across days, evenings, weekends, and awake night shifts.
  • Assist with daily living activities such as budgeting, shopping, appointments, and community engagement.
  • Promote recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and evidence-based practice in all interactions.

We're looking for compassionate and motivated Casual Support Workers to join our Blenheim team. Whether you're available for mornings, evenings, weekends or awake night shifts, you'll play an important role in supporting people on their mental health and wellbeing journey.

No two shifts look the same. One day you might be supporting someone with grocery shopping, budgeting, cooking or gardening. Another day could involve helping someone attend appointments, reconnect with their community, or work towards personal goals.

You'll be supported to bring these values to life every day while promoting hope, independence and wellbeing.

You genuinely enjoy supporting people and have a natural ability to build trust and connection. You're respectful, positive, and committed to upholding the mana of the people you work alongside.

You'll also have:

  • A Level 4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent), or willingness to work towards one
  • A current full New Zealand driver's licence
  • A Comprehensive First Aid Certificate (units 6400, 6401 and 6402), or willingness to obtain one within your first three months
  • Confidence working within a Māori context, including an understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, tikanga Māori and Te Reo Māori
