Job summary

Pathways in Blenheim is hiring a part-time Support Worker to assist residents on their recovery journey within a 6-bed residential home. You will work Thursday to Saturday, 10:30am–7:00pm, providing hands-on support, advocacy, and daily living skills to whai ora.

The role requires a full NZ driver’s licence, a first aid certificate (or willingness to obtain), and current studying towards or completion of the NZ Certificate in Health and Wellbeing, with knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Qualifications

  • Must hold full New Zealand driver’s licence.
  • First aid certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Knowledge of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

Responsibilities

  • Focus on individuals’ needs and provide culturally safe practice.
  • Conduct administrative tasks, produce comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers, and support and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Support clients with daily tasks such as cleaning, budgeting, cooking, gardening or other household activities.
  • Attend appointments and advocate for people.

This is a permanent part-time position working Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 10.30am – 7pm, based in Blenheim. We are a 6 bed, single staffed, 24/7 residential recovery mental health and addictions group home in Blenheim. As a Support Worker you'll walk alongside whai ora to achieve their individual goals and build skills to support recovery and move to independent living.

You'll also:

  • Focus on the individuals needs and provide culturally safe practice
  • Conduct relevant administrative tasks, produce comprehensive notes, provide effective handovers, and support and collaborate with your colleagues
  • Be prepared to support our clients to do whatever it takes - cleaning, budgeting, cooking, gardening or helping out with everyday household tasks
  • Attend appointments and advocate for people

You'll have a non-judgemental attitude and an ability to build relationships quickly.

You'll also:

  • Hold a full New Zealand driver's licence
  • Hold a first aid certificate or willing to obtain one
  • Preferably you hold the L4 New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or a recognised equivalent) or currently studying towards this qualification.
  • Knowledge of, and demonstrable commitment to, the principles of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Increased Kiwisaver contribution
  • Fifth Week of Annual Leave
  • Paid Wellbeing Days (2 days a year)
  • HealthNow Payment Card - $250 per year to support Health and Wellbeing for you and your whanau
