Job summary

Tradestaff is looking for an experienced Carpet Layer to work across Auckland’s residential and commercial projects. You will install carpets, prepare subfloors, fit underlay and edges, and ensure high-quality finishes on every site.

The role requires a practical, detail‑oriented tradesperson with at least 3 years of carpet laying experience, own tools and reliable transport. Ongoing work, PPE provided, and weekly pay with competitive rates based on experience.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years of carpet laying experience.
• Residential and/or commercial carpet installation experience.
• Strong knowledge of carpet fitting techniques, tools and materials.
• Own tools and reliable transport preferred.

Responsibilities

• Measuring, cutting, fitting and installing carpet.
• Preparing subfloors and surfaces before installation.
• Installing carpet underlay, smooth edge and carpet grippers.
• Stretching, joining, trimming and securing carpets.
• Installing carpet tiles and other flooring materials where required.

Tradestaff is on the lookout for an experienced Carpet Layer to join our team working across various residential and commercial projects throughout Auckland!

Location: Auckland

Start Date: Immediate

Pay Rate: Competitive rates based on experience

Hours: Monday to Friday

About the Role

You'll be responsible for installing carpets across a range of residential and commercial properties, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

• Measuring, cutting, fitting and installing carpet.
• Preparing subfloors and surfaces before installation.
• Installing carpet underlay, smooth edge and carpet grippers.
• Stretching, joining, trimming and securing carpets.
• Installing carpet tiles and other flooring materials where required.
• Reading and interpreting floor plans and measurements.
• Ensuring clean, accurate and professional finishes.
• Maintaining a safe and tidy work environment.

What We're Looking For

• Minimum 3+ years of carpet laying experience.
• Proven experience in residential and/or commercial carpet installation.
• Strong knowledge of carpet fitting techniques, tools and materials.
• Ability to measure, cut and install carpet accurately.
• Experience with carpet tiles and vinyl flooring is an advantage.
• Own tools and reliable transport preferred.
• Physically fit with excellent attention to detail.
• Reliable, hardworking and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• Two relevant work references.
