Job summary

Family-owned flooring retailer in Auckland seeks an experienced carpet layer to join and stay long-term. You will handle residential and commercial installs from prep through finish, work from one base and cover the sister store’s needs.

Teaching an apprentice, you will start each day reporting to base, delivering high-quality finishes and professional customer service at homes. A full NZ driver licence is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience as a carpet layer.
• Experience with textured and wool carpets.
• Confidence in floor prep and uplift to industry standards.
• Reliable, well-organised with pride in quality finish.
• Mentor and support an apprentice when needed.

Responsibilities

• Carry out residential and commercial carpet installs from prep to finish.
• Complete uplift and floor prep and lay to standards.
• Manage own jobs and interact professionally with customers in homes.
• Mentor the apprentice and support development on the tools.
• Report to base at start of each day for planning.

Job description

A family-owned flooring retailer in Auckland, linked to a national flooring network, needs a skilled Carpet Layer who will stay with the team for the long haul. The owners value quality workmanship and look after their customers and staff.

The business is an accredited employer, which means it is able to support overseas candidates with employer sponsorship on the Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV).

What the employer needs is a tradesperson who can take residential and commercial jobs from preparation to finish without supervision, working from one base and also covering installs for a sister store. The week is Monday to Friday, with a couple of Saturdays a month. An apprentice is on the team, so the employer wants someone ready to teach good habits.
