Job summary

Summerset in Prebbleton, Canterbury Region, New Zealand, is seeking a Café Supervisor to lead the daily café operations, ensure friendly service, and uphold high standards across food and beverages. You will train a small team, reconcile takings, and help deliver catering for village events.

The role runs Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, with a warm, customer-focused approach. LCQ or Duty Manager certificate is preferred.

• Strong customer service skills and ability to multi-task in a busy environment.
• Excellent communication and team leadership abilities.

Job description

We’re now looking for a Café Supervisor for our Prebbleton village who shares our love for people, hospitality, and quality service.

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Leading the daily operations of the café and reconciling the daily takings
• Training and mentoring a small team
• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

The hours for this role are Tuesday - Saturday 9am - 3.30pm.

Qualifications

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• Previous experience running daily operations in a café or hospitality business
• Experience leading a team is ideal
• LCQ and/or Duty Managers certificate
• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
