Job summary

Summerset Retirement Villages in Trentham is seeking a warm, customer-focused Café Assistant to join our café team. You'll craft high-quality coffee, serve cabinet food and light meals, and help create a welcoming hub for residents, families and visitors.

Working hours are Tue-Sat 8:30am-3:30pm and Wed-Fri 10am-2pm, totaling 65 hours per fortnight. You’ll collaborate with our Chef Manager and Café Supervisor, bring superb barista skills, and have opportunities to grow within Summerset.

Qualifications

• Hospitality or café experience preferred.
• Excellent barista skills essential.
• Excellent communication and multitasking abilities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, present, and serve food and drinks to a high standard.
• Provide outstanding barista services.
• Assist with catering for village events and resident functions.

We’re now looking for a Café Assistant for our Trentham village who shares our love for people and hospitality.

Responsibilities

You’ll play a key role in delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the smooth running of our café. From making great coffee to creating tasty cabinet food and light meals, you’ll help make our café a warm and welcoming place for residents, their families, and visitors. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Preparing, presenting, and serving food and drinks to a high standard
• Providing outstanding barista services
• Assisting with catering for village events and resident functions
• Handling cash and reconciling daily takings

You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager, Café Supervisor, and wider village team to deliver a café experience that’s welcoming, consistent, and genuinely enjoyable.

Working Hours

Tuesday - Saturday 8:30am - 3:30pm (65hrs per fortnight)

Wednesday - Friday 10:00am - 2pm (24hrs per fortnight)

Qualifications

You will bring a warm and positive approach to everything you do, along with:

• Previous hospitality or café experience
• Superb barista skills
• A warm, friendly personality with great customer service skills
• Excellent communication and the ability to multitask
• The ability to work both independently and as part of a team
