Qualifications

  • Relevant qualifications or equivalent experience required.
  • Reg18 competencies or ability to obtain them in near future required.

  • Experience with administration, documentation and record keeping.
  • Ability to interpret technical information and legislation.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process building consent applications for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assess applications against the Building Act and relevant regulations.
  • Liaise with applicants, designers, and building practitioners to clarify requirements and resolve queries.
  • Maintain accurate records and information systems.
  • Prepare correspondence and documentation relating to building consents.
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient service delivery.

About the Role

As Co-Lab continues to grow, we are looking for multiple Building Consent Officers - Processing to join our expanding team.

In this role, you will play an important part in supporting safe, sustainable development across our region. You will be responsible for processing building consent applications, ensuring compliance with legislative requirements, and providing excellent service to customers and stakeholders.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys problem-solving, has strong attention to detail, and wants to be part of a professional and supportive team.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

Review and process building consent applications for completeness and accuracy

Assess applications against the Building Act and relevant regulations

Liaise with applicants, designers, and building practitioners to clarify requirements and resolve queries

Maintain accurate records and information systems

Prepare correspondence and documentation relating to building consents

Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders

Work collaboratively with colleagues to support efficient and effective service delivery

What We Are Looking For

We would love to hear from you if you have:

A relevant qualification or equivalent experience in a related field is required

Holding Reg18 competencies or being able to gain them in the near future is a requirement

Strong attention to detail and analytical skills

Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities

Experience with administration, documentation, and record keeping

The ability to interpret technical information and legislation

A proactive, organised, and customer-focused approach

Knowledge of building consent processes, or a willingness to learn
