PAK’nSAVE New Plymouth is seeking a Bakery Manager to lead the department, optimise buying, drive operations, and reduce waste while delivering world-class pastry, sweet and yeast ranges for Taranaki.

Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with the in-store team.
• Negotiate best deals with supplier representatives for the New Plymouth community.
• Support and develop the Baker Apprenticeship program.
• Lead Food Safety policy and procedures with excellence.
• Provide a food offer that aligns with our price promise for customers.
• Collaborate with the Fresh Foods Manager and store team to hit performance goals.

About the Role

We’re on the hunt for someone who can take our Bakery Department on a journey of good to great, continuing to establish systems and processes that ensure we sell only the freshest and safest food, and provide our customers with a range that inspires. This role forms part of our management team, and as the Bakery Manager, you’ll be responsible for playing a direct role in our strategy to optimize buying and operations, minimize waste, and feed Taranaki for Less. This is a hands‑on position, leading our Bakery to provide world‑class standards for our customers, and a world‑class work environment for our dedicated team of High Price Fighters.

Key Responsibilities Include

• Building Strong relationships with our in-store team
• Building strong relationships with Supplier representatives. Negotiating the best possible deal for the New Plymouth community.
• Supporting and developing our Baker Apprenticeship program
• Leading Food Safety policy and procedures with relentless focus and excellence
• Provide a Food offer that inspires our customers, at a price that is inline with our 'Cheap As' Customer promise.
• Work closely with the Fresh Foods Manager and wider store Team to deliver store performance goals

This role has a salary expectation of $85-$100K for the right candidate with experience and a proven track record of the skills and qualities we seek. You will display great core values, and high-quality leadership traits. You are ideally a qualified Baker, or technically proficient in bakery production. You will be both passionate, and proud of, building a department that obsesses over the best quality pastry, sweet, and yeast range available, at a price point that makes the offer the undeniable bakery of choice in Taranaki.
