New World Papakura is seeking a Bakery Assistant Manager to lead the bakery team daily, drive KPI achievement, and deliver an outstanding customer experience.

You will oversee operations, wage costs, ordering, stock control, and staff recruitment and training, while ensuring health and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Experience in a commercial bakery or kitchen is required.
• Previous leadership at Assistant Manager or Supervisor level is ideal.
• Solid math skills for cost control and POS operations.
• Effective communication at all levels.
• Valid NZ driver\'s license.
• Right to work in New Zealand.

Responsibilities

• Assist in achieving department KPI targets and wage control.
• Monitor sales and GP targets; maintain price integrity in the department.
• Ensure all bakery machinery is maintained regularly.
• Assist in department ordering using in-store purchasing systems; manage stock levels and stocktakes.
• Support cost control; manage credits to minimize waste and loss.
• Roster to ensure adequate staff in line with wage targets.
• Assist in recruitment and onboarding of bakery staff.
• Ensure proper induction and ongoing training for team members.
• Assist with departmental cleaning and sanitation.
• Support compliance with food control plan and health and safety standards.
