Job summary

Breadwork Bakery & Cafe Ltd, located in Birkenhead, Auckland, is seeking an experienced baker with strong knowledge of Sri Lankan bakery products. You will prepare breads, buns, savoury snacks, curry and pastry fillings while upholding high standards of quality, food safety and hygiene.

This full‑time, permanent role offers 30–40 hours per week, with pay ranging from $28 to $31 per hour. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years in a commercial bakery and a NZQA Level 3 or equivalent

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years' experience in a commercial bakery or food production.
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan bakery products and traditional methods.
• Diploma or NZQA/NVQ Level 3 or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and bake Sri Lankan and English bakery items, including tea buns and spicy rolls.
• Create curry fillings, pastry fillings, and other savory ingredients.
• Weigh, mix, knead, and shape dough to achieve desired textures.
• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times for consistency.

Join our growing food business in Birkenhead, Auckland. We are seeking an experienced Bakers with strong knowledge of Sri Lankan bakery products and cuisine . You will prepare breads, buns, savoury snacks, curry and pastry fillings while maintaining high standards of quality, food safety and hygiene.

30-40 hours per week | $28-$31 per hour | Full-time permanent

At Breadwork Bakery & Cafe Ltd, located in North Shore City, Auckland, we pride ourselves on delivering authentic Sri Lankan bakery products alongside traditional English fare. We are looking for skilled Bakers who have a strong background in bakery production and food preparation, particularly in Sri Lankan cuisine. The ideal candidate will be passionate about baking, possess a keen attention to detail, and have the ability to create a variety of traditional baked goods that meet our high standards.

Key Baking Duties

• Prepare and bake a diverse range of Sri Lankan and English bakery items, including tea buns and spicy rolls.
• Craft curry fillings, pastry fillings, and other savoury ingredients with precision and care.
• Accurately weigh, mix, knead, and shape dough to achieve the desired textures and flavors.
• Monitor oven temperatures and baking times to ensure product consistency and quality in every batch.
• Prepare various glazes, fillings, and decorations to enhance the visual appeal of baked goods.
• Maintain high standards of food quality, ensuring each product meets our established specifications.

Food Safety and Hygiene Standards

• Adhere strictly to food safety regulations and hygiene practices throughout the baking process.
• Ensure proper storage of ingredients and finished products to prevent spoilage and contamination.
• Clean and maintain all baking equipment, utensils, and work areas regularly to uphold cleanliness.
• Follow recipes and production procedures meticulously to ensure product consistency and quality.
• Implement workplace health and safety standards to create a safe and compliant environment for all staff.

Collaboration and Innovation

• Assist in menu development by contributing new product ideas and improvements based on customer feedback.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a cohesive team to meet production goals.
• Communicate openly with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods and events.
• Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge of advanced baking techniques.
• Help maintain stock levels and assist in inventory management of baking supplies to ensure efficiency.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial bakery or food production environment is essential.
• Strong knowledge of Sri Lankan bakery products and traditional preparation methods is highly valued.
• Experience in making various breads, buns, and savoury pastries is crucial for this role.
