Job summary

The Bakehouse Cafe Thames Limited in Waikato is seeking two full-time permanent bakers to join our busy bakery. The role involves preparing doughs and fillings for bread, pies, and pastries, measuring ingredients, and ensuring quality standards.

Shifts are from 2am to 10am, Wednesday to Sunday, offering 30–40 hours per week and a pay rate of NZD 29.66–32.00 per hour. NZQA Level 4 or equivalent or 2 years bakery experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Candidate should have NZQF Level 4 or a bachelor degree or 2 years of bakery experience.
• Priority for local NZ residents/citizens.
• Passion for baking and attention to detail required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare doughs and fillings for bread, rolls, pies and pastries.
• Measure and combine ingredients to form doughs and pastry fillings.
• Make sweet and savory fillings and toppings.
• Check ingredient quality to meet standards.
• Set and monitor oven temperatures for proper baking times.
• Unload baked pastry, depan, and cool finished products.
• Decorate and present finished products.
• Test products to ensure food safety and quality.
• Clean and restock workstations; sanitize equipment.
• Ensure health and safety standards are followed.

We are a busy bakery located in Thames-Coromandel, Waikato. We now require 2 fulltime permanent baker to join in our team. We are expecting someone who has a passion for baking, attention to details, ability to multi-task and be a proactive member of the team.

Job Description

We offer at least 30 to 40 hours per week, work from Wednesday to Sunday and hours of work between 2am to 10am, and our pay range is from $29.66/hour to $32.00/hour depending on your learning abilities.

Requirements for this role

Ideal candidate should have a relevant NZQF level 4 qualification or have bachelor degree or 2 year’s relevant work experience in bakery OR related field. Priority will be given to local NZ residence/citizens.

Role and responsibilities

• To prepare doughs and fillings for baking bread loaves and rolls, pies, and other pastry goods.
• Measure and combine ingredients and raw materials using hands/hand tools and other equipment to make doughs for pies, pastry, bread rolls, and other pastry foods.
• Make sweet, savory and special ingredient fillings, sources and toppings.
• Check the quality of the ingredients and the prepared raw materials to make sure quality standard are met
• Set, adjust and monitor oven and other cookware’s temperatures to ensure proper baking and cooking time
• Take out the baked pastry from the forms, trays, unloading, de-panning and cooling the finished products
• Decorate, glaze and adjust the display of the finished products
• Test the finished products to ensure that each item meets food safety and quality requirements
• Clean and restock workstations and ensuring that all equipment is sanitized and prepared for the next shift.
• Check the cleanliness of equipment and operation of machines before each run, to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
