Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand is hiring Load Assistants at Christchurch Airport on a fixed-term basis with full training provided. Roles run from early November 2026 to end of March 2027, 6.5 hours per day, 7 days a week on a 6 on/3 off roster, with an hourly rate of $28.95 and pro rata annual salary of $60,382.00.

As a Load Assistant you will be responsible for greeting passengers and preparing them for pre‑flight screening at Christchurch Airport’s International and Domestic screening points. We have multiple fixed term positions available from early November 2026 through till end of March 2027. For these roles, we are requiring a workforce that is available 6.5 hours a day across 7 days a week. You will be working a 6 days on/3 days off roster.
When you join us as a Load Assistant, you will be provided with a uniform, 5 days of paid comprehensive training before you start, ongoing support, and a competitive hourly rate of $28.95.

We are looking for people who want to contribute to keeping the skies of Aotearoa New Zealand safe and secure. To be successful in this role, you should be able to engage with a broad range of people, keep calm when things get busy, and have clear verbal communication skills. Ideally, you will have prior customer service experience, but this is not essential.
