Job summary

The Civil Aviation Authority’s Aviation Security Service invites applications for Load Assistant roles at Christchurch Airport. These fixed-term positions run from early November 2026 to end of March 2027, with a roster of 6 days on, 3 days off and 6.5 hours per day.

You will greet passengers and help prepare them for pre-flight screening at both international and domestic points, with full training provided and no prior experience necessary.

About the role

As a Load Assistant you will be responsible for greeting passengers and preparing them for pre-flight screening at Christchurch Airport's International and Domestic screening points. We have multiple fixed term positions available from early November 2026 through till end of March 2027. For these roles, we are requiring a workforce that is available 6.5 hours a day across 7 days a week. You will be working a 6 days on/3 days off roster.

About you

We are looking for people who want to contribute to keeping the skies of Aotearoa New Zealand safe and secure. To be successful in this role, you should be able to engage with a broad range of people, keep calm when things get busy, and have clear verbal communication skills. Ideally, you will have prior customer service experience, but this is not essential.

Shortlisted applicants will be required to complete pre-employment screening including police vetting. Due to the requirements of the role those with serious criminal convictions will not be considered.
