Job description

Cackle delivers integrated audio-visual solutions that help New Zealand organisations communicate, collaborate and present with confidence.

We are looking for an experienced Audio-Visual Specialist with strong professional AV expertise and a proven ability to work independently. This is a hands-on role covering site scoping, solution design, quotation, installation, commissioning and troubleshooting.

If you enjoy understanding a customer’s needs, designing a practical solution and seeing it through to completion, we would like to hear from you.

The role

You will take technical ownership of AV projects, ensuring systems are well designed, professionally installed and easy for customers to use.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting site visits to understand customer requirements, assess existing infrastructure and identify installation constraints.
  • Designing AV solutions that meet the customer’s needs, budget and site conditions.
  • Preparing accurate equipment lists, scopes of work and quotations, including labour estimates and clear exclusions.
  • Installing, configuring, testing and commissioning AV equipment and integrated systems.
  • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, connectivity and system performance issues.
  • Coordinating with customers, suppliers and other trades to deliver projects efficiently.
  • Providing customer training, system documentation and a thorough handover.
  • Managing your workload independently while maintaining clear communication, safe working practices and high standards of workmanship.
What you will bring
  • Demonstrated experience in professional AV integration, with examples of projects you have delivered independently.
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial audio, displays, video distribution, conferencing systems and AV control.
  • A sound understanding of signal flow, cabling, connectivity and IP networking as they relate to AV systems.
  • Practical experience with system configuration, commissioning and methodical fault-finding.
  • The ability to translate customer requirements into reliable, cost-effective technical solutions.
  • Experience preparing quotations and estimating equipment and installation requirements.
  • Clear communication skills and confidence working directly with customers.
  • Strong organisation, attention to detail and the judgement to resolve issues independently and seek specialist support when needed.

Experience with Microsoft Teams Rooms, Zoom Rooms, DSP configuration, AV-over-IP or control system programming (eg. QSC, Biamp, Crestron) would be an advantage. Relevant industry or manufacturer certifications are also welcome.
