Job summary

CBRE is seeking an Assistant Valuer to join our Wellington Commercial Valuation & Advisory Services team. The role suits a recent Property graduate or a final-year student nearing completion, with mentoring to support growth toward registration.

You will work on a range of commercial valuations in the Wellington market, gaining hands-on experience in inspections, market research, and valuation reporting, while building client relations.

Our Wellington Valuation & Advisory Services team is growing, and we have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Valuer to join our Commercial team. This role would suit a recent Property graduate, or a current 3rd year Property student nearing completion of their degree.

Working as part of a collaborative and growing team, you will be involved in a diverse range of commercial valuation assignments across the Wellington market. This role offers hands-on learning and practical experience across the foundations of the valuation process as you work towards registration, while receiving mentoring and support from experienced valuation professionals.

The Opportunity | Te āhei:

• Work towards registration while gaining exposure to a wide range of commercial valuation assignments across the Wellington market.
• Support experienced valuers with key valuation activities, including property inspections, market research, lease analysis and valuation report preparation.
• Develop capability in market evidence collection, comparative analysis, valuation modelling and report writing.
• Build relationships with clients, agents and industry stakeholders to develop a practical understanding of the commercial property sector.
• Learn alongside a collaborative and engaged team, with day-to-day mentoring and support from experienced valuation professionals.
• Develop the core valuation skills, market knowledge and client awareness needed to progress towards Registered Valuer status.

About You:

• Studying towards, or recently completed, an NZIV-approved Property degree, with an interest in building a career in valuation.
• A finance minor or double major would be highly regarded.
• Be confident, personable and comfortable communicating with a variety of people.
• Demonstrate initiative, curiosity and a willingness to learn.
• Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately capture information, input data and contribute to analysis.
• Strong time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
