Job summary

Bazaar Limited, trading as VIP's MiniMart, Temuka, is seeking an experienced Assistant Store Manager to back the Store Manager in daily operations and team leadership.

You will supervise staff, manage rosters, monitor sales, and ensure stock control while upholding high customer service standards in a fast-paced retail and food-service environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years' retail management or supervisory experience.
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management or related field.
• Experience with POS systems, stock management and cash handling.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Store Manager in managing day-to-day operations.
• Supervise, train and support retail and food service staff.
• Prepare staff rosters and allocate daily duties.
• Monitor sales performance and assist in achieving business targets.
• Manage inventory, stock ordering, stock control and merchandising.
• Maintain high standards of customer service across all business operations.
• Handle customer enquiries and resolve complaints professionally.
• Assist with cash handling, banking and daily reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, company policies and retail legislation.
• Support online order fulfilment and coordinate with delivery platforms.
• Maintain attractive store presentation and promotional displays.
• Prepare operational reports and assist with administrative duties.
• Support the Store Manager in maintaining efficient, compliant and profitable operations.

Skills & Experience

Applicants must have:

• At least 2 years' relevant retail management or supervisory experience, or
• A relevant tertiary qualification in Business, Retail Management, Management or a related field.

Applicants should also have:

• Strong leadership and team management skills.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience using POS systems, stock management and cash handling procedures.
• Good organisational, planning and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work efficiently in a busy retail and food service environment.
• Flexibility to work weekends, evenings and public holidays as required.
