Job summary

Skyline Rotorua is seeking an Assistant Activities Manager to lead the Luge operations and support the wider Activities Department. You will drive safe, high-quality, commercially successful operations, coordinating rostering, schedules and frontline leadership.

This hands-on leadership role requires strong communication, a proactive approach and a passion for delivering outstanding guest experiences in a fast-paced setting. Weekend coverage and peak periods are involved.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years leadership experience in tourism, hospitality, or similar operations.
• Experience coordinating day-to-day operations including rostering and workforce planning.
• Experience leading teams in fast-paced, customer-focused environments.
• Strong communication and relationship-building across teams.
• Commitment to health and safety, risk management and compliance.

About The Role

As Assistant Activities Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering safe, high-quality and commercially successful operations across Skyline Rotorua's Activities Department. Working closely with leaders and supervisors, you’ll help create exceptional guest experiences through strong operational leadership, effective team coordination, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll be actively involved in driving operational excellence, championing health & safety, solving challenges and maintaining high service standards in a fast-paced environment. You'll foster a positive and high-performing culture by providing leadership, support, and direction to your team.

While your primary focus will be leading the Luge operation, you will also provide leadership support across the wider Activities Department during weekends, peak periods, and leave coverage. This full-time, permanent opportunity suits a driven and adaptable leader who thrives on variety, leads from the front, and is passionate about supporting teams to deliver outstanding guest experiences.

The Perfect Candidate Will Bring

• A minimum of 2+ years proven leadership experience in tourism, hospitality or a similar operational environment,
• Experience coordinating day-to-day operations, including rostering and workforce planning,
• Experience leading teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment, ideally within a large-scale visitor attraction or activity-based operation,
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively across teams,
• Commercial awareness and experience managing wage and operational costs,
• A proactive, hands-on approach and the ability to perform well under pressure,
• A strong commitment to health and safety, risk management, and operational compliance,
• A passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences,
• A continuous improvement mindset and a genuine desire to contribute to operational and team success.
