Job description

Jora New Zealand will close on 9th September 2026. Thank you for being with us, we are cheering you on as you continue your career journey.

As our Analytics Engineering Manager, you’ll guide the team that shapes how Sky uses trusted, governed data to support better decisions. You’ll coordinate the delivery of reusable data products and scalable analytics solutions for reporting, insight, and decision-making across the business.

You’ll bring strong analytics engineering craft expertise and offer subject matter guidance, while helping others do their best work through clear standards, coaching, and shared technical practice. Working closely with BI, Data Engineering, Product, Technology, and business stakeholders, you’ll help ensure Sky’s data products are reliable, accessible, well‑documented, secure, and fit for ongoing use.

This is a permanent, full‑time position with a strong focus on people leadership, stakeholder partnership, delivery planning, and governance of our analytics architecture and platforms. Due to location of teams and leaders this role supports, flexibility to travel to either of our Mt Wellington and Auckland CBD site is important to this role.

  • Guiding, coaching, and developing the Analytics Engineering team, including setting clear priorities, expectations, and development plans.
  • Coordinating the analytics engineering delivery roadmap across strategic work, BAU demand, project commitments, and operational support.
  • Establishing and embedding standards for data modelling, transformation, testing, deployment, documentation, version control, release management, and data product governance.
  • Offering SME‑level guidance on analytics engineering craft while supporting shared technical practice across the team.
  • Working with BI, Data Engineering, Product, Technology, and business stakeholders to translate priorities into scalable, maintainable data products.
  • Ensuring data quality, lineage, security, accessibility, retention, and governance practices are built into the way the team works.

You’re an experienced analytics engineering professional who can balance technical depth with people leadership, thoughtful delivery, and effective stakeholder partnership. You’re comfortable setting direction, improving standards, coaching technical specialists, and ensuring analytics architecture and platforms are governed, scalable, and aligned to business value.

  • 8+ years’ experience across data, analytics, business intelligence, or analytics engineering, with a track record of delivering enterprise‑scale data solutions.
  • Proven people leadership experience, including line management, coaching, performance conversations, workload planning, and capability development within technical teams.
  • Deep analytics engineering craft expertise, with the ability to act as an SME across data modelling, transformation, testing, documentation, release management, and reusable data product delivery.
  • Experience shaping delivery priorities across strategic initiatives, BAU activity, operational support, and competing stakeholder needs.
  • Strong understanding of modern data architecture and platforms, such as Snowflake, dbt, AWS, GitLab, CI/CD tooling, Power BI or equivalent tools, as well as data warehousing, ETL/ELT patterns, metadata, lineage, data quality, security, and governance practices.
  • Confident stakeholder and communication skills, with the ability to explain technical trade‑offs, influence priorities, and translate business needs into scalable analytics solutions.
  • Free Sky, Sky Sport Now, and Neon
  • A flexible, supportive culture where your ideas matter
  • Great career development with real pathways to grow
  • Discounted Southern Cross health insurance
