We are seeking an experienced AI Data Engineer to join our team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of data and AI capabilities across the organisation.
Based at our Head Office in East Tamaki, this is a full-time onsite position working closely with stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Supply Chain, Ecommerce, Sales and Technology teams.
Please note this is a full-time, five-days-per-week onsite role based in East Tamaki.
This role combines modern data engineering with practical AI and automation initiatives. You will be responsible for designing and maintaining robust data platforms, delivering high-quality reporting and analytics solutions, and identifying opportunities to leverage AI technologies to improve business processes and decision-making.
We are looking for a technically strong data professional who is passionate about building scalable data solutions and translating emerging AI technologies into real business outcomes.
Design, develop, administer, and optimise SQL Server and MySQL databases to ensure performance, availability, and security.
Build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines across ecommerce, ERP, finance, and operational systems.
Develop and optimise data models that support enterprise reporting, analytics, and AI initiatives.
Maintain high standards of data quality through validation, cleansing, reconciliation, and governance processes.
Integrate data from APIs, cloud services, and third-party platforms.
Design and develop Power BI dashboards and analytical solutions that provide actionable business insights.
Partner with business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver data-driven solutions.
Support continuous improvement of reporting frameworks and data management practices.
Identify opportunities to apply Artificial Intelligence, automation, and advanced analytics across the business.
Support the development and implementation of AI-powered solutions, including Generative AI and Large Language Model (LLM) use cases.
Evaluate emerging AI technologies and contribute to the organisation's AI strategy and adoption roadmap.
Collaborate with technical and business teams to deliver automation solutions that improve operational efficiency and decision-making.
Minimum 3 years' experience in Data Engineering, Analytics Engineering, Business Intelligence, or a related field.
Advanced SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasets.
Strong understanding of database design, data modelling, and data integration principles.
Proven experience designing, implementing, and supporting ETL/ELT solutions.
Experience delivering reporting and analytics solutions using Power BI.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Standard working days are Monday to Friday, with occasional work required outside of regular hours. (Flexibility is offered to accommodate these needs. However, availability on Mondays is essential).
MySQL expertise.
Python development and automation scripting.
Experience with retail, ecommerce, ERP, finance, logistics, or supply chain data environments.
Exposure to AI, machine learning, Generative AI, LLM technologies, or intelligent automation solutions.
Experience delivering AI-driven business solutions from concept through to implementation.
