Job summary

Salt Digital Recruitment seeks an Agricultural Equipment Service Technician to service and repair vehicles and plant in Timaru. This full-time role focuses on safety, reliability, and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will perform servicing, diagnostics and repairs, maintain records, and support the wider team. The ideal candidate has at least 3 years’ experience and is trade-qualified or willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years’ relevant experience in workshop/field service roles.
• Ideally trade-qualified as Heavy Automotive Mechanic or similar.
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred.
• Demonstrates strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine repair methods to return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and servicing in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules.

What Agricultural Equipment Service Technician...

We are looking for workshop mechanics to join our team!

You will be required to work in Timaru

This is a permenent full-time role with guaranteed 30 hours per week.

This role is to maintain, service and repair vehicles, machinery and plant to ensure they are safe, reliable and compliant with operational and regulatory requirements.

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for completing mechanical servicing, diagnostics and repairs efficiently while maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider operations team to ensure equipment is available for fit for purpose.

Your day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine approriate repair methods to ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and schedules servicing in accordance with manufacturer guideline and maitenance schedules.

You need to demonstrate:

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Ideally trade qualified as a Heavy Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Can work unsupervised or part of a team
• Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening
• Able to complete basic paperwork when needed
• Understands and practices the principles of zero harm
• Calm, professional temperament and a good work ethic
