Job summary

Salt Digital Recruitment is seeking a Workshop Mechanic for Timaru, New Zealand. This permanent role offers 30 hours per week and involves maintaining, servicing and repairing vehicles, machinery and plant to keep equipment safe and compliant.

You will diagnose and repair, complete servicing and support the wider operations team to ensure equipment is available for use. Pre-employment drug screen may be required.

Qualifications

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience in workshop mechanics.
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and plant is preferred.
• Calm, professional temperament with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine repair methods to return equipment to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.

Job description

We are looking for workshop mechanics to join our team!

You will be required to work in Timaru

This is a permanent full-time role with guaranteed 30 hours per week.

This role is to maintain, service and repair vehicles, machinery and plant to ensure they are safe, reliable and compliant with operational and regulatory requirements.

The Workshop Mechanic is responsible for completing mechanical servicing, diagnostics and repairs efficiently while maintaining accurate records and supporting the wider operations team to ensure equipment is available for fit for purpose.

Your day-to-day tasks include but are not limited to:

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles, plants and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine approriate repair methods to ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and schedules servicing in accordance with manufacturer guideline and maitenance schedules.

You need to demonstrate:

• At least 3 years’ relevant experience
• Ideally trade qualified as a Heavy Automotive Mechanic or similar preferred
• Experience servicing and repairing heavy vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred
• Strong mechanical diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Can work unsupervised or part of a team
• Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening
• Able to complete basic paperwork when needed
• Understands and practices the principles of zero harm
• Calm, professional temperament and a good work ethic
