Job summary

Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern is seeking a Workshop Mechanic to join our Timaru team on a permanent full-time basis. The role focuses on maintenances, diagnostics and repairs of vehicles, plant and equipment to keep operations safe and compliant.

You will work with a small team or alone, with a strong emphasis on attention to records and uptime. Ideal candidates will have at least 3 years of relevant experience and preferably a trade qualification in Heavy Automotive Mechanics.

Qualifications

• 3 years of relevant experience.
• Trade qualified as Heavy Automotive Mechanic preferred.
• Experience servicing heavy vehicles, light vehicles, trailers and plant equipment preferred.
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.
• Can work unsupervised or part of a team.
• Willing to undergo pre-employment drug screening.
• Able to complete basic paperwork when needed.
• Understands and practices the principles of zero harm.
• Calm, professional temperament and a good work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on vehicles and equipment including heavy vehicles, utes, trailers and small plants.
• Identify mechanical faults and determine repair methods to ensure equipment is returned to service safely and efficiently.
• Complete preventive maintenance and scheduled servicing in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and maintenance schedules.
