As an Administrator Voice Communications, you will be a vital part of the 24/7 critical communications hub and primary switchboard for the Waikato district. Please note this position involves rostered shifts. Working within Hospitality Support Services, you will manage incoming and external calls, swiftly answer and coordinate '99777' clinical and site emergencies, and actively monitor essential panic, duress, and facility alarms to ensure patient safety, staff protection, and seamless operational continuity across the Waikato Hospital campus. This is a fast-paced, high-impact role where no two days are the same. You will provide customer-focused support, handle patient enquiries, conduct shift handovers, maintain operational documentation, and support overall service excellence.
The Voice Communications Service, as part of Hospitality Support Services, operates 24/7 as the critical communications hub and primary switchboard for the Waikato district. You will be calm under pressure, highly organised, and possess a strong customer-centric approach. You enjoy working in a collaborative team and bring a deep commitment to supporting health outcomes across our community. Demonstrated experience working within a frontline customer service, switchboard, or contact centre environment. Solid computer literacy, with proficient and accurate keyboard and data-entry skills. Proven communication skills, both written and verbal, with a clear speaking voice and high level of diplomacy. Proven ability to manage distressed, anxious, or verbally aggressive callers calmly and professionally. A logical, systematic approach with the ability to follow processes and remain decisive under pressure. An understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and a commitment to achieving equitable outcomes for Māori and all communities. The flexibility and resilience to work a rotating 24/7 roster, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
