As a Telecommunications Administrator you are the first point of contact. Professionalism, exceptional communication skills and calm approach ensure people are connected to the right support quickly and safely. For this 0.5 FTE, part time position, approximately 2 x nightshifts per month is a prerequisite. We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team on a fixed term basis from 19 November 2026 until 5 May 2027 to cover a period of parental leave. Shifts/roster will be discussed at interview. The role is to support patient care, clinical teams and families/whanau via communication of phones/call centre, paging system and RTs. As a critical service our main priority is to answer our emergency calls for Whakatane and Tauranga hospitals which involves directing the correct medical team to an emergency in a timely manner. Strong problem solving abilities play an integral part in the smooth running of the service to ensure good outcomes are reached. Introductory 6 weeks training is provided with the support of a trained Senior Operator. With Telecommunications operating 24/7 the team work on a shift rotation - morning, day, evening and night shift/s on a 4-week rotating roster.
