Blind Low Vision NZ in Whangārei is seeking a part-time Administrative Assistant for parental leave cover. This fixed-term role (15 hours/week) involves front-of-house duties, local administration, and supporting the team with daily office tasks from 9.00am to 2.00pm Monday, Tuesday and Friday.

You will greet clients, answer calls, assist with equipment demonstrations, manage office supplies and equipment maintenance, and help keep the fleet and facilities running smoothly while delivering

Qualifications

  • Previous experience within an administrative position.
  • Experience in a similar customer facing position would be an advantage.
  • Technically competent and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritise your workload effectively.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to show initiative.

Responsibilities

  • Providing support to the team and take ownership of all local administration processes.
  • Meeting and greet clients and visitors to the office, and answering all incoming calls to the office.
  • Assisting in demonstration of equipment items to our clients (training will be provided).
  • Facilities management - coordinate maintenance and repairs for the office and for any office equipment.
  • Managing stationary orders.
  • Supporting fleet management for the office.
  • Being responsible for opening and closing of the office.

This is a fixed term, part-time position 15 hours per week (9.00am-2.00pm, Monday, Tuesday and Friday), covering Parental Leave from early October, for 12 months. Working with the team out of our Whangarei office, you will be responsible for a range of administration tasks, as well as the first point of contact for visitors and clients. Duties will include:

This position would suit a person who is good at problem solving, can take initiative and has the desire to make a difference. You will have exceptional organisational and time management skills, and be customer service focused and compassionate when interacting with supporters, clients, and the general public. We are looking for:

Previous experience within an administrative position
