Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Progress towards actuarial examinations is desirable.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving and attention to detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and analysis of large datasets for actuarial purposes.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of actuarial models.
  • Help in the preparation of valuation reports, pricing analyses, and financial projections.

About the Role

Our client is seeking a motivated and mathematically inclined Actuarial Assistant to support their actuarial team in Queenstown . This role is ideal for an individual aspiring to a career in actuarial science, providing exposure to crucial aspects of risk assessment, pricing, and financial modeling within the insurance industry . You will assist senior actuaries in data analysis, model development, and the preparation of regulatory reports. This is a significant opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute to the company's strategic decision-making in the Eastern Cape .

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the collection, cleaning, and analysis of large datasets for actuarial purposes.
  • Support the development, testing, and implementation of actuarial models.
  • Help in the preparation of valuation reports, pricing analyses, and financial projections.
  • Conduct research on industry trends and regulatory changes affecting actuarial practices.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Strong academic record with excellent mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Progress towards actuarial examinations (e.g., Society of Actuaries, Institute and Faculty of Actuaries) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and programming languages such as Excel, SQL, R, or Python.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a keen eye for detail.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
