Job summary

ACC is seeking a Senior Actuary to lead complex actuarial modelling, forecasting and risk assessment, shaping decisions across the organisation.

You will mentor others and drive strategic analysis to support ACC's long-term sustainability and performance, collaborating with senior leaders to convert technical insights into business outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Fellow of the NZ Society of Actuaries and an active member of relevant actuarial societies.
  • Significant actuarial experience within insurance, consulting or a comparable analytical environment.
  • Expertise in actuarial modelling, forecasting, liability valuation, pricing and risk analysis.
  • Experience delivering strategic insight that supports business outcomes and decision making.
  • Strong programming and analytical skills, including experience with SAS, Excel and data analysis tools.
  • Proven project leadership capability and experience managing complex work programmes.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong relationship management and stakeholder engagement capability.
  • A commitment to coaching, mentoring and developing others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex actuarial modelling, forecasting, risk assessment and strategic analysis.
  • Provide high-quality analysis and guidance to support ACC's long-term sustainability and performance.
  • Offer thought leadership and mentor others within the Actuarial Services team.
  • Translate technical findings into actionable business recommendations for senior stakeholders.

About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a Senior Actuary within ACC's Actuarial Services team, you will provide high quality analysis, insight and thought leadership that enables informed decision making across the organisation. You will lead complex actuarial modelling, forecasting, risk assessment and strategic analysis to support ACC's long-term sustainability and performance. Working alongside senior leaders and key stakeholders, you'll provide advice that turns technical information into meaningful business outcomes while contributing to injury prevention, recovery support and keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between. This senior-level role offers the opportunity to lead significant programmes of work, mentor others and shape the future of actuarial practice within one of New Zealand's most important public service organisations. The appointing salary for this role is between $164,705 and $213,148 based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.
