Job summary

Jobtailor in Auckland is seeking a qualified actuary to lead and contribute across life, general and health insurance engagements, risk management, and climate-related modelling. You will perform actuarial modelling and valuation for financial reporting and audits, and collaborate with consulting and audit teams.

The role emphasises building client relationships, winning new business, managing multiple tasks, and guiding project teams across NZ and Australia within KPMG's global actuarial

Qualifications

  • Qualified actuary with experience in life insurance.
  • Experience gained within either a consultancy or company environment.
  • Ability to build credible client relationships, win new business and develop existing business.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving ability and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and oral technical and communication skills.
  • Ability to engage with clients and senior leaders.
  • Proven project and people management skills.
  • Ability to structure task allocations around critical goals.
  • Curiosity and flexibility to explore new approaches.
  • Ongoing learning and responsible practice relating to the cultural history, societal interests, and identity of Aotearoa New Zealand.

  • Work on a wide range of engagements across life, general and health insurance, risk management and government sectors.
  • Perform traditional actuarial modelling and valuation for financial reporting, remediation, due diligence and external audit.
  • Assist clients with climate risk management, modelling and reporting.
  • Transform and enhance actuarial and risk management reporting and processes to increase operational efficiencies.
  • Perform reinsurance and capital optimisation and modelling.
  • Contribute sector knowledge and analytical skills to diverse client engagements.
  • Collaborate with Consulting and Audit teams across New Zealand.
  • Work with actuarial teams in Australia and KPMG's international actuarial network.
  • Participate in multi-skilled engagements with consulting and audit colleagues.
