About the role

We're looking for an Actuarial Analyst I to join our Actuarial team. Whether you're a recent or near graduate looking to begin your actuarial career, or have already started building actuarial experience, we would love to hear from you. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a broad range of work including actuarial modelling, data analysis, reporting, business insights and strategic projects that support key business decisions and customer outcomes. You'll work with experienced actuaries and a diverse group of stakeholders to turn technical information into actionable insights that help improve customer outcomes while contributing to keeping Kiwis safe at work, at home, and everywhere in between. Our Actuarial team is collaborative, supportive and committed to continuous learning. You'll have the opportunity to develop your technical and professional capability through exposure to a wide variety of work, while receiving comprehensive support as you progress.

ACC provides a comprehensive study support package to help you continue your journey through the actuarial qualification. This includes paid study leave throughout the year and financial support for study and exam materials. The appointing salary range for this role is $67,442 - $74,936 based on qualification and experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

About you

• A tertiary qualification in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, economics, finance, accounting or a related discipline.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to work with data, models, and complex information, along with an interest in developing capability in programming and analytical tools.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into business insights and provide actionable advice to stakeholders.
• Strong stakeholder relationship management skills, with the ability to build rapport and work effectively with a range of stakeholders.
• A collaborative approach, with the ability to contribute positively to team engagement, team delivery, and a supportive team culture.
• A desire to innovate, improve processes and techniques, and continuously develop your technical capability to achieve quality outcomes.
• The ability to thrive in a varied and dynamic environment, working on a diverse range of projects and priorities.
• An understanding of the ACC Scheme and the support it provides to New Zealanders, or a willingness to quickly build this knowledge.
• Active membership of, or eligibility for membership of, the New Zealand Society of Actuaries.
• Commitment to studying for and progressing through actuarial examinations towards qualification with a recognised actuarial professional body.
• You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
