Job summary

ACC New Zealand in Wellington is seeking a Policy Advisor to work across teams to deliver the policy programme and shape the future of the Accident Compensation Scheme. You will collaborate with stakeholders and develop policy that informs government priorities, with a focus on thoughtful, robust advice.

You will be early in your policy career but with strong potential to tackle complex issues, communicate clearly, and build credible relationships.

Qualifications

• Policy advice background or relevant experience in thinking through difficult problems, including considering trade-offs and risks.
• Ability to turn analysis into advice and think creatively.
• Sound judgement.
• Ability to write, influence, and think creatively with an understanding of Government operations.
• Natural ability to form strong, credible relationships with stakeholders across an organisation.
• NZ work rights at the time of application.

About the role | Mō te tūranga mahi

As a Policy Advisor, you will work across the team to support the delivery of the policy programme of work.

ACCs position as a crown entity provides opportunity to contribute to government priorities with the advantage of being able to draw on a wealth of diverse perspectives, experience and operational technical expertise across the organisation. With this comes the satisfaction of seeing your work developed right through from initiation to operational implementation.

• Contribute towards addressing complex policy problems with a unique intersectional focus between government and service delivery.

The appointing salary for this role is $77,502 to $94,724, based on experience. ACC offers a comprehensive benefits package which at present includes an advantageous superannuation scheme (9% contribution) with features like no mandatory employee contribution, optional life and income protection insurance.

• Policy advice background or relevant experience in thinking through difficult problems, including considering trade-offs and risks.
• Relevant experience turning analysis into advice and the ability to think outside the square.
• Sound judgement.
• The ability to write, influence, and think creatively is essential, particularly with an understanding of Government operations.
• A natural ability to form strong, credible relationships with stakeholders across an organisation.
• You must hold New Zealand work rights at the time of application.
