Job summary

StokeswoodCare Home in Stokesvalley, Christchurch, is part of Bupa and is seeking an Activities Assistant with a creative flair to join our community.

You will support the Activities Coordinator by identifying residents' interests, planning and implementing individual and group activities, and promoting a warm, engaging environment for residents and families.

Qualifications

  • NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level preferred.
  • Experience in aged care is desirable.
  • Enthusiasm, empathy and a passion for residents' wellbeing.
  • Creative, fun personality with a caring approach.
  • Clean full driver’s licence preferred for outings.
  • Eligible to work in NZ.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in individual and group activities programs.
  • Review and assess residents' activities schedules.
  • Promote a homely, stimulating environment for residents and families.
  • Develop and maintain communication networks to support the activities programme.

Hours and Roster Details:

Employment Type:Permanent, Part-time

Hours: 4 on 2 off rotating roster pattern.

Shift Time: 10.30AM- 4.30PM.

Days:154 Hours over a 6-week rotating roster

In this role, you will be supporting the Activities Coordinator, identifying the leisure activity needs of each of the StokewoodCare Home residents based on their interests, preferences, and abilities and contribute to the planning and implementation of individual and group activities programmes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
  • Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
  • Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
  • Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.
About You
  • An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
  • Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
  • A fun personality with a creative flair.
  • A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
