Job summary

Bupa Foxbridge Care Home in Te Rapa, Hamilton is seeking an Activities Assistant to support and lead resident activities within a modern care setting.

You will help plan and participate in group and individual activities, promote a warm, engaging atmosphere, and liaise with staff and families to tailor activity programmes to residents’ needs.

Qualifications

• NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level preferred.
• Experience in aged care desirable.
• Demonstrates empathy, enthusiasm and positive impact for residents.

Responsibilities

• Participate in individual and group activity sessions.
• Contribute to residents' activity reviews and planning.
• Promote a homely, stimulating environment for residents and families.
• Develop strong communication with internal and external teams to support the activities programme.

Thepurposeof this job

Bupa Foxbridge Care Home is a modern, purpose-built care home located in Te Rapa, Hamilton, beside the Te Rapa Racecourse and Minogue Park. The home offer provides rest home, hospital, and dementia care in a contemporary environment.

As an Activities Assistant, you will:

• Participate and contribute to both individual and group programme activities.
• Contribute to the review and assessment of the residents' individual activities programme.
• Actively promote a homely, stimulating, and pleasant environment for the residents and their families.
• Develop and maintain excellent internal and external communication networks to support the activities programme.

What you’ll needto make it possible

• An NZQA Certificate in Diversional Therapy Level is preferred.
• Previous experience in a similar role within aged care is desirable.
• Display enthusiasm, empathy, and a passion for making a positive impact on the lives of residents.
• A fun personality with a creative flair.
• A clean, full driver’s licence is preferable, as you may drive the van for resident outings.
• Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
