Job summary

Matangi School in New Zealand's Waikato invites applications for a caring, collaborative kaiako to join our junior team in 2027. This 0.5 FTE, fixed-term position covers two terms starting Term 1, 2027.

The role supports Years 1–8 across English, Health and physical education, Mathematics and statistics, Science, Te reo Māori, The arts, and more. Applicants must hold a current practising certificate and have the right to work in NZ, with safety checks required.

Matangi School is a well-resourced rural school with a supportive community and an excellent board. We are looking for a caring, collaborative kaiako to join our junior team in 2027.

The position: This is a 0.5 job share position (2.5 days per week) in our junior area, starting in Term 1, 2027. It is fixed term for the first two terms of 2027 to cover a permanent full-time teacher who is taking refreshment leave. If a new class opens in Term 3 as a result of roll growth, a separate fixed term position may be advertised.

About you: You will understand how our youngest ākonga learn and grow, and you will build warm, positive relationships with ākonga and whānau. You will enjoy working as part of a team, including planning and communicating closely with your job share partner.
