We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Project Manager to take ownership of the mechanical delivery on large-scale Data Centre and mission-critical construction projects.
The successful candidate will oversee the mechanical scope from design coordination and procurement through installation, testing, commissioning and final handover, ensuring all systems are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.
You will work closely with subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary project teams, managing interfaces and resolving technical challenges while driving the successful delivery of critical mechanical infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full mechanical package from design through construction, commissioning and handover.
- Oversee the installation, testing and commissioning of mechanical systems.
- Manage and coordinate mechanical subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
- Coordinate mechanical design activities, technical submissions and design changes.
- Ensure installations comply with approved drawings, specifications and project requirements.
- Monitor programme, progress and costs across the mechanical scope.
- Conduct site inspections and ensure works meet required quality and safety standards.
- Identify and resolve mechanical and technical issues throughout construction.
- Manage interfaces between mechanical, electrical, CSA, BMS and commissioning teams.
- Ensure compliance with relevant building codes, regulations and industry standards.
- Identify project risks and support the implementation of corrective and recovery actions.
- Work closely with construction, QA/QC, planning, commercial and commissioning teams.
- Drive systems through testing, commissioning, snagging and close-out.
- Support the preparation of handover documentation and successful final client handover.
Experience & Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years' experience within mechanical project, package or construction management.
- Previous experience on Data Centre, Mission Critical or large-scale technically complex construction projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, plumbing and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience managing mechanical subcontractors and packages throughout the construction lifecycle.
- Strong understanding of mechanical installation, testing and commissioning.
- Good understanding of construction drawings, specifications and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant building codes, safety standards and regulations.
- Experience with project management and construction software.
- Strong leadership, coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to manage technical challenges in a fast-paced construction environment.
