Job summary

Empire Partnership is seeking a Senior Project Manager (MEP) for a major data centre development in Norway. You will lead the MEP package from pre-construction through commissioning, coordinating with client, consultants and contractors on site in Kristiansand.

The role requires aMechanical or Electrical Engineering background, strong data centre experience, and proven leadership in coordinating HVAC, electrical substations and cabling.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in mechanical or electrical engineering or related discipline.
• Experience in data centre or mission-critical projects.
• Strong track record managing MEP packages (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
• Knowledge of pre-construction MEP design and coordination.
• Experience with HVAC, chilled water, HV electrical substations and major cable installations.
• Experience in commissioning and testing of MEP systems.
• Experience in construction consultancy or client/developer environments preferred.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder-management and reporting skills.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and analysing construction programmes.
• Contract administration experience would be advantageous.
• Excellent communication and strong attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Act as a visible project leader on site, monitoring progress and ensuring safe working practices across MEP works.
• Manage and coordinate MEP delivery across the project.
• Identify issues, risks and interfaces and drive them to resolution.
• Implement and monitor key project processes and procedures.
• Collaborate with client and project team to identify improvements and maintain programme objectives.
• Lead and attend progress and coordination meetings.
• Review project progress against programme and communicate potential impacts to stakeholders.
• Coordinate consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
• Oversee MEP installation, commissioning and testing through to handover.

The Opportunity

Empire Partnership is working with a leading international construction consultancy on the appointment of an experienced Senior Project Manager (MEP) for a major data centre development in Norway.

This is an opportunity to join a large-scale, technically complex project and take a key role in the delivery of the MEP package.

You will work closely with the client, consultants, contractors and wider project team, overseeing progress from pre-construction and design coordination through installation, commissioning and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a visible project leader on site, monitoring progress and ensuring safe working practices across MEP works.

Experience Required

We are looking for candidates with:

• A relevant third-level qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Previous data centre / mission-critical project experience.
• Strong experience managing Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) packages.
• Knowledge of pre-construction MEP design and coordination.
• Experience involving systems such as HVAC, chilled water, HV electrical substations and major cable installations.
• Experience overseeing commissioning and testing of MEP systems.
• Previous experience within a construction consultancy, client or developer environment is preferred, although candidates from other relevant backgrounds will be considered.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder-management skills.
• Excellent reporting capabilities.
• Experience preparing, reviewing and analysing construction programmes.
• Contract administration experience would be advantageous.
• Strong communication skills and excellent attention to detail.
