The Role
We are seeking an experienced Mechanical QA/QC Manager to lead all mechanical quality assurance and quality control activities on a major hyperscale Data Centre development.
The successful candidate will ensure mechanical systems are installed, inspected, tested and prepared for commissioning in accordance with project specifications, approved drawings, client requirements and applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement and manage the Mechanical QA/QC strategy, procedures, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) and inspection processes.
- Oversee quality across key mechanical systems including HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling systems, CHW/CDW pipework, pumps, fuel systems, fire suppression and associated BMS interfaces.
- Review mechanical method statements, material submittals, technical documentation and inspection records.
- Conduct site inspections to verify installations against approved drawings, specifications and quality standards.
- Coordinate closely with mechanical subcontractors, construction teams, consultants, design teams and commissioning teams.
- Manage non-conformances (NCRs), defects, corrective actions and quality close-out.
- Monitor pressure testing, flushing, cleaning, equipment installation and other mechanical testing activities.
- Ensure systems achieve the required level of construction completion and quality before commissioning.
- Support testing and commissioning, system turnover and integrated systems testing activities where required.
- Manage mechanical quality records, punch lists, as-built information, O&M documentation and turnover packages.
- Provide regular quality reporting to senior project leadership and client stakeholders.
- Promote a strong quality culture and drive continuous improvement across mechanical delivery.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree or relevant qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
- Previous experience as a Mechanical QA/QC Manager, Mechanical Quality Manager or similar role on major construction projects.
- Previous Data Centre or mission-critical project experience
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, cooling, pipework and associated mechanical systems.
- Experience with ITPs, inspections, testing, NCR management, commissioning readiness and handover documentation.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction standards, specifications and quality management processes.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors, consultants, commissioning teams and client representatives.
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
