Job summary

Apollo Research is seeking an Engineering Manager for Watcher, our coding agent security product, to lead the product engineering team in London or San Francisco. This hands-on leader will still ship code while guiding people, processes, and strategy.

You will own delivery rhythm, hire engineers, and coordinate with researchers to transform new monitoring capabilities into production features, leveraging AI tooling to boost performance and speed.

Qualifications

• Strong engineering background with production coding in Python/TypeScript.
• Experience hiring, onboarding and managing small engineering teams.
• Delivery ownership of multi-person engineering efforts with clear outcomes.
• High agency and proactive problem solving in fast-moving environments.
• Direct communication and ability to give and receive blunt feedback.
• Comfortable leveraging AI heavily for management and coding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Own team planning, tracking, and ticketing to align with goals.
• Lead planning rhythms, standups, retros, and cross-team coordination.
• Translate research outputs into scoped engineering work and priorities.
• Coordinate customer commitments, releases, testing, and docs.
• Deliver a major customer integration and scale the team as needed.
• Bridge research handoffs to production with rollout and docs.
