About the job
The Product Designer plays a key role in the Product & ESG department, designing outstanding products from concept through to production approval. Your scope will extend across Db product categories (packs and bags,luggageand accessories). You translate the design direction set by the Head of Design into resolved, buildable product that meets our design intent, exceeds the needs of our community, and delivers on our cost, quality and sustainability requirements, in close collaboration with the Development & Sourcing team.
Fields of responsibility
- Design your allocated styles from concept through to production approval, meeting time, cost and quality expectations.
- Translate the design direction set by the Head of Design intoresolved, buildable product.
- Own the design documentation for your styles and secure the quality and completeness of the handover to Development & Sourcing.
- Brief material and trimaesthetic intent, and support new material developments.
- Support the seasonal color process led by the Head of Design.
- Conducttrend, technology, material and market research, and present findings into the seasonal briefing process.
- Co-own the achievement of FOB targets together with Development & Sourcing on yourallocatedstyles, resolving design intent against cost within the agreed target.
- Address construction, manufacturing,sustainabilityand cost constraints in close collaboration with the Product Developers.
Work tasks
- Create,presentand reviseconcepts anddesign sketches based on the approvedproduct and designbriefs.
- Create design documents for your styles (AdobeIllustrator files, technical sketches, 2D drawings, 3D files,renders, material references).
- Build 3D models and/orrendersforvisualization of thedesign intent, usingAIor3DCAD, where the project requires it.
- Brief material and trim directions tothe Material & CSRManager, andsupport thedevelopment of new fabrics and trims.
- Support the seasonal color process with trend input, colorsketchingand per-style color proposals for approval by the Head of Design.
- Review every sample roundtogether with a Product Developer,taking into accountdesign, quality and cost.
- Research emerging trends in design, technology, materials,constructionsand communities, and present your findings into the seasonal briefing process.
- Apply Db’s design guidelines andEcodesignrequirements to all design work, and flag conflicts between design intent and ESG or compliancerequirements early.

- Strong product design capability in soft goods: cut-and-sew construction, patterns,materialsand hardware
- Able to resolve a design from concept into buildable product within cost,calendarand quality constraints

- Fluent in written and spoken English
Qualifications & Experience
- 3-5 years relevant design education
- 3-8years of product design experience in the outdoor, gear,luggageor fashion industry
- Demonstrated experience designingand/or developingcut-and-sew soft goods products(e.g.technical apparel, packs & bags, footwear)
- Experience of working in Adobe Illustrator
- Experience of working in a 3D CAD systemis a plus
- Experience of working in PLM systemsis a plus
