Job summary

Spond, a fast-growing Norwegian tech company based in Oslo, is seeking a Product Designer to shape intuitive experiences across iOS, Android, and web. You will drive design discovery, build AI-enhanced prototypes, and collaborate with PMs, engineers, and QA to deliver cohesive, accessible products for coaches, parents, players, and volunteers.

Qualifications

Spond is a fast-growing Norwegian technology company based in Oslo. We develop an app for organizing sports, currently used by over 4 million monthly active users and growing rapidly in countries such as the UK, US, Germany, and France. Our mission is to make life easier and save time for coaches, parents, players, and volunteers involved in sports.

In addition to our mobile apps, we offer web apps that mirror the core app experience, giving coaches, admins, and members the flexibility to organize and manage their activities from any device.

As a Product Designer at Spond, you'll play a critical role in shaping intuitive and impactful user experiences for iOS, Android, and web. You'll take ownership of designs from initial concept to final implementation, using user insights, data, and modern AI tools to move faster and make better decisions. We're looking for someone who sees AI as a natural part of the design process: a way to prototype with real interactions, explore more ideas, and test earlier with real users. While this role offers significant responsibility and leadership opportunities, we're open to candidates with varying levels of experience who demonstrate the skills and drive to excel.

Your Role:

Discovery and definition

• Own design discovery for your product areas: gathering input, planning and running user interviews, and turning research into clearly defined user problems.
• Use AI tools to speed up research, from synthesizing interview notes and user feedback to spotting patterns across support tickets and survey data.
• Review PRDs and tickets critically before design starts, flagging anything that is unclear, missing, or doesn't make sense.
• Help shape priorities with your PM by bringing user insights and design perspective into planning and refinement.

Design and prototyping

• Lead UX/UI design across iOS, Android, and web, ensuring features feel consistent and cohesive wherever users access Spond, while respecting the strengths of each platform.
• Use AI tools to build functional, interactive prototypes that go beyond static mockups, so ideas can be tested with realistic data and behavior before development begins.
• Test designs early and often, pulling in users and colleagues to review your work and QAing your own designs before handoff.
• Design with native platform conventions in mind, following Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Google's Material Design where they serve our users best.
• Ensure our products meet accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA), in line with our obligations under the European Accessibility Act.
• Design for a multilingual, multi-market product, considering how layouts, naming, and UX copy hold up across Norwegian, Swedish, Danish, French, German, and English.
• Design permission-aware experiences that work for many different roles, including admins, coaches, parents, guardians, and young players.

Delivery and quality

• Deliver clear, well-annotated design specifications that cover the full picture: edge cases, empty states, error states, loading states, and responsive behavior.
• Carry out acceptance testing, reviewing built features against the design before they ship.
• Use product analytics and feature flag experiments to measure the impact of your work after launch and inform the next iteration.

Ownership and collaboration

• Be the go-to design contact for your team's product areas (such as events, matches, lineups, and profiles), working alongside your PM.
• Answer design questions from QA, engineering, and the wider company, and document key design decisions so the reasoning isn't lost.
• Keep Figma files and the Spond design system current, contributing new components and patterns and flagging inconsistencies across the product.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, developers, QA, and marketing to define, deliver, and launch features.

Your Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (or equivalent experience).
• Proven experience designing interactive solutions for iOS, Android, and web, with a strong portfolio showcasing your process as well as your outcomes.
• Advanced skills in Figma, including working with components, variables, and design systems.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools for prototyping or design work (for example Figma Make, Claude, Cursor, v0, Lovable, or similar). Examples in your portfolio are a strong plus.
• Solid understanding of native mobile design patterns and platform guidelines.
• Working knowledge of accessibility standards and how to apply them in practice.
• Technical understanding and experience working closely with development teams. Familiarity with front-end or native frameworks such as SwiftUI or React is a plus.
• Experience planning and conducting user research, as well as testing and validating design solutions.
• Comfort working with product data and analytics to inform decisions.
• Strong aesthetic sense combined with a focus on usability and functionality.
• Fluency in English is required. Norwegian or another Nordic language is a strong advantage.
