Alva Industries is seeking a Process Engineer to support and continuously improve motor manufacturing processes in Trondheim. You will analyze production and inspection data, run controlled trials, and implement validated process changes on the shop floor.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assess the scope and frequency of manufacturing issues using production and inspection data.
• Determine whether failures originate from the product, manufacturing process, tooling, work instructions, or inspection method.
• Develop and test corrective actions to improve manufacturing performance.
• Design and execute controlled production trials.
• Evaluate the effect of process changes on yield, labor time, process capability, quality, and product performance.
• Track and analyze production yield across different motor types and sizes.
• Design or improve manufacturing tooling and fixtures.
• Create and maintain clear, operator-friendly work instructions and other controlled manufacturing documentation.
• Implement validated process changes on the production floor.
• Research and evaluate new manufacturing methods, equipment, and technologies.
• Collaborate closely with production operators, technicians, quality, design engineering, and other technical teams.
• Monitor implemented changes to confirm that improvements are sustained.

About the Role

Alva Industries is seeking a Process Engineer to support and continuously improve our motor manufacturing processes.

In this role, you will identify opportunities to refine how our products are manufactured. Using a combination of manufacturing data, feedback from technicians, and product performance data, you will find processes that can be re-engineered to improve our motors.

You will develop solutions, which may include improving a manufacturing method, redesigning tooling, updating a work instruction, or refining an inspection method. You will then design and conduct production trials to evaluate the impact on yield, labor time, process capability, quality, and product performance.

Once an improvement has been validated, you will document the process and work closely with the manufacturing team to implement it on the shop floor. This is a hands-on engineering role combining continuous improvement, structured problem-solving, testing, data analysis, and practical implementation.

• Three or more years of experience supporting production or manufacturing in an engineering role.




• Practical experience with root-cause analysis and structured problem-solving.




• Experience planning and executing tests or production trials.




• Ability to analyze manufacturing data and use it to make engineering decisions.




• Experience writing work instructions, test procedures, or other technical documentation.




• Ability to communicate effectively and work closely with both engineering teams and production personnel.




• Professional working proficiency in English or Norwegian.

Preferred Experience

• Experience with electric motors, electromechanical products, or similar assemblies.




• Experience in high-volume or scaling production environments.




• Knowledge of manufacturing metrics such as yield, cycle time, labor time, scrap, and rework.




• Experience with statistical analysis, process capability, or design of experiments.




• Experience designing or improving manufacturing tooling and fixtures.




• Experience introducing new processes or equipment into production.
