Job summary

NTNU's Department of Information Security and Communication Technology invites applications for a PhD candidate in Cyber Risk Management in Maritime Operational Technology. The project spans cyber risk assessment, human–machine interaction, and resilience, linking maritime stakeholders with industrial cases.

The PhD research fellow will pursue doctoral studies while collaborating with maritime industry and public-sector partners, developing interdisciplinary expertise at the intersection of

Qualifications

• Master's degree in cybersecurity, information security, maritime studies, marine technology, risk or safety management, or engineering.
• Average grade corresponding to B or better on NTNU's scale, or equivalent evidence of strong academic performance.
• English proficiency at C1-C2 level and ability to present academically.
• Eligibility for security clearance at CONFIDENTIAL level or higher.
• Knowledge of cyber risk management, OT, maritime systems or human–machine interaction.
• Experience with qualitative, quantitative, experimental, or mixed research methods.

Responsibilities

• Complete doctoral education and obtain a PhD.
• Carry out high-quality research within the project framework.
• Publish academic papers and disseminate findings.
• Participate in international activities such as conferences and research stays.
• Engage in teaching, supervision, and Norwegian language classes where applicable.
