Job summary

Woolpert in London is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to provide strategic and operational HR support to our London Mission Critical team. You will guide leadership on HR policies, support workforce planning, and help shape our people strategy with a focus on a high-performance culture.

You will oversee the employee lifecycle, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and development while ensuring compliance with employment law and diversity practices.

Qualifications

  • Proven HRBP experience with strategic and operational support.
  • Strong employee relations skills and handling sensitive matters.
  • Knowledge of employment law and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in architecture/engineering or similar industry.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management.

About us

We are seeking an experienced HR Business Partner (HRBP) on a permanent basis to join our London Mission Critical team.

About the Role

You will provide strategic and operational HR support, acting as a trusted advisor to our leadership teams and play a key role in shaping our people strategy. The HRBP oversees the employee lifecycle, supports workforce planning, and uses HR insights to improve processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide guidance on HR policies, people matters, and support the delivery of HR strategies.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on employment law, HR best practice, and organizational change.
  • Partner with leaders to drive a high-performance culture, supporting consistent and equitable people practices.
  • Lead complex employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinaries, and performance improvement.
  • Promote an inclusive workplace culture that enhances employee experience and retention.
  • Ensure consistent application of company policies across the business.
  • Support workforce planning, succession planning, and talent development to build a strong leadership pipeline.
  • Manage the employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance, development and offboarding.
  • Partner with managers on reward, compensation, compliance, HR reporting, and business continuity planning.
  • Oversee compensation and benefits to ensure competitiveness and alignment with market and business strategy.
  • Analyze HR metrics to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
  • Lead HR projects, including change initiatives and development programmes.
  • Drive continuous improvement across HR processes, systems while staying updated and ensuring compliance on employment legislation and HR best practices.

Qualifications/ previous experience
  • Proven experience in an HR Business Partner or equivalent level HR role.
  • Strong employee relations experience with ability to handle sensitive matters.
  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment legislation and compliance requirements.
  • Relevant industry experience including Architecture.
  • CIPD qualification (or equivalent).
  • Strong problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading HR projects and supporting change initiatives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to build trusted relationships.
  • Strong understanding of Inclusion & Diversity importance, with ability to embed inclusive practices.

  • Ability to work independently or collaboratively, demonstrating initiative and adaptability.
  • Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion.
  • Strong listening and communication skills, with ability to influence and engage others effectively.
