Job summary

The Newmarket Police Department is actively seeking a part-time Public Safety Dispatcher to fill current vacancies in the Communications Division, which provides 24-hour dispatch for Newmarket Police, Fire and EMS, and nearby departments. Responsibilities include receiving calls, dispatching units via CAD, maintaining radio/phone communications, running background checks, and monitoring alarms and cameras.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED is required.
Valid Driver’s license is required.
Must be 18 years of age.
Night shift / Weekends / Holidays are required.
Candidates must successfully complete a formal interview, extensive background investigation and polygraph examination.

Responsibilities

Receive emergency calls from the public and E-911. Dispatch appropriate fire, ambulance or police using computer-aided dispatch.
Maintains continuous two-way radio and/or telephone communication between Dispatch Center and officers/department personnel.
Performs criminal record, license, motor vehicle registration record through SPOTS and NCIC checks; enters stolen property, missing and wanted persons into NCIC and other duties as assigned.
Monitor fire/burglar alarms and security cameras
