Job summary

Wilhelmsen - Careers at Sea seeks a 2nd Engineer with proven EOW experience on modern cruise vessels. You will report to the Staff Chief Engineer and independently manage engine room watch duties, safety, and maintenance. Strong communication and leadership are essential for this role in a dynamic fleet.

Requirements include STCW Engine Officer certification, SOLAS/MARPOL/ISM knowledge, PMS familiarity, and English fluency. Pre-employment checks apply.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have EOW experience on a modern cruise vessel.
• STCW 95 Engine Officer certification required.
• Strong knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL and ISM.

Responsibilities

About the job CRUISE FLEET / 2ND ENGINEER

Authority

• Reports to Staff Chief Engineer
• Independent Engine room watch keeping officer
• In charge of safe management of engine room operations and maintenances

Required qualifications and competences:

• Relevant experience as EOW on modern cruise vessel.
• COC Engine Officer, as required by STCW 95 as amended.
• Good knowledge about maritime rules and regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM).
• Good knowledge of PMS and inventory management.
• Experience from vessel equipped with diesel electric propulsion and automation
• Great communication, organizational and reporting skills.
• Safety focused mindset.
• Fluent command in English.
• Great interpersonal skills and good team leading ability.
• Good references.
• As part of our hiring process, candidates will undergo standard pre-employment checks, including medical and drug/alcohol testing.

Beneficial experiences:

• Experience in sailing under NIS flag.
• Experience form vessel equipped with Scrubbers.
• BASSNET (pms and inventory management system)
