Job summary

The Wilhelmsen - Careers at Sea invites applications for the Cruise Fleet 1st Engineer position. You will be responsible for independent engine room watch keeping, and the safe management of engine room operations and maintenance.

Requirements include STCW‑95 COC Engine Officer, proven EOW experience on a modern cruise vessel, strong knowledge of SOLAS/MARPOL/ISM, and fluent English. Excellent communication and leadership skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience as EOW on a modern cruise vessel.
• COC Engine Officer as required by STCW 95 as amended.
• Good knowledge of SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM.
• Good knowledge of PMS and inventory management.
• Experience with diesel electric propulsion and automation.
• Strong communication, organizational and reporting skills.
• Safety‑minded with leadership abilities.
• Fluent in English.
• Strong interpersonal skills and team leadership.
• Good references and compliant pre‑employment checks.

Responsibilities

• Independent engine room watch keeping.
• Safe management of engine room operations and maintenance.
• Report to Staff Chief Engineer.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers as required.

About The Job CRUISE FLEET / 1ST ENGINEER

Authority

• Reports to Staff Chief Engineer
• Independent Engine room watch keeping officer
• In charge of safe management of engine room operations and maintenances

Required Qualifications And Competences

• Relevant experience as EOW on modern cruise vessel.
• COC Engine Officer, as required by STCW 95 as amended.
• Good knowledge about maritime rules and regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM).
• Good knowledge of PMS and inventory management.
• Experience from vessel equipped with diesel electric propulsion and automation
• Great communication, organizational and reporting skills.
• Safety focused mindset.
• Fluent command in English.
• Great interpersonal skills and good team leading ability.
• Good references.
• As part of our hiring process, candidates will undergo standard pre-employment checks, including medical and drug/alcohol testing.

Beneficial Experiences

• Experience in sailing under NIS flag.
