Job summary

Wilhelmsen - Careers at Sea is seeking a Cruise Fleet Chief Officer Safety & Security to lead safety and security operations aboard expedition cruise vessels. The role requires acting as Officer of the Deck, SSO, and Ship Safety Officer, with responsibility for supervising security staff and enforcing maritime safety standards.

Ideal candidates bring a minimum of 2 years in key safety leadership roles within cruise operations, a Class 1 Master’s license, STCW certificates, and strong English

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years’ experience as Chief Officer, Safety Manager or related in cruise industry.
• Valid class 1 Masters license and STCW 95 certificates as amended.
• Knowledge of SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, MLC.
• Strong leadership and team-leading ability; fluent English.
• Good references and pass pre-employment checks (medical and drug/alcohol).

Required qualifications and competences:

• Minimum 2 years’ experience in the capacity of Chief Officer, Safety Manager or other relevant experience from the Cruise Industry
• Valid class 1 Masters license and certificates according to STCW 95 as amended
• Good knowledge about maritime rules and regulations (SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL, MLC)
• Great leadership skills
• Fluent command in English
• Great interpersonal skills and good team leading ability
• Good references
• As part of our hiring process, candidates will undergo standard pre-employment checks, including medical and drug/alcohol testing

Beneficial experiences:

• Experience from expedition cruise and vessels operating in Artic waters
• Experience from new built and/or site team or project work
• Experience in sailing under NIS flag
