The Village is seeking applicants for a Crossing Guard. The position is responsible for the oversight of safe crossing of schoolchildren at designated crossing points and reports to the Director of Public Safety and. This position lasts throughout the school year, approximately August – May. Training is expected to start the week of August 10, 2026.
Riverside is looking for an individual who can ensure patterns of proper crossing behavior, while projecting a positive image and serving as a positive role model for children. The individual shall deter schoolchildren, as necessary, from committing unsafe acts.
The successful individual will demonstrate safe crossing behavior, conduct themselves in a courteous manner, and communicate effectively with other employees, Village officials, and the general public. Typical hours are from 7:30am – 8:45am and 2:45pm- 4:00pm.
